The results of this evenings impromptu, unnecessary and indeed wholly accidental experiment as to what happens if you only lock one of the two click-locks atop a jug of fresh juice (primary colouring ingredient: beetroot) afore vigourously shaking it, are in.
.. somewhat disappointingly they are exactly as you might have expected.. delighted that I was wearing my favourite *not beetroot coloured* hoodie..
Many, many years ago I did something similar with a giant ketchup bottle. I'd noticed it had separated, so I shook it vigorously. The top hadn't been screwed on properly and the contents went everywhere, including the ceiling, my sweatshirt and other family members.
Interestingly, the ketchup took the colour out of the ceiling and my sweatshirt, in the same manner as bleach. I never ate ketchup again.
@fitheach oooh, that's not good! Thankfully I've never been a fan of ketchup.
I think the hoodie should be safe, I made the juice and it's all organic fruits and veg so finger's crossed!
Ah, just because it is organic doesn't mean it is safe. Lemon or lime juice can be quite potent, for example. Potentially one of those juices could strip colour from material.
Is tie-dye trendy at the moment?
It is probably the vinegar in ketchup that gives it the "cleaning" properties.
A small mastodon instance for family and close friends.
