Decided earlier today to try an adjustable sitting/standing desk converter kit to see if it will help me balance persistent baby sleep interruptions with the necessity to not fall asleep during my working day.

It seems the jury is still out on standing desks.. but if it helps maintain (recreate) my core and keeps me alert during my shift then it's all good..

.. if it really makes you more productive like the PR says..then my struggle to bring friends over to strategy games will continue!

I may have inadvertently discovered the truth about microsoft time.. you know when (back when you used windows) an update says '7 minutes left' and finishes 77 minutes later..

.. so far this evening we've taken about 3 hours to get through 2 x 50 minute netflix shows..and we've still "11" minutes to go..

.. the individual in charge of programming time mechanics for MS operating systems had a 6 month old baby.

I’d tell you a Fibonacci joke, but it’s probably as bad as the last two you’ve heard combined.

That was quick!

EU Commission & EU Council have confirmed that #Article50 is revocable. All that remains is for CJEU to confirm specific legal parameters.

So, #Brexit now has (at least) three possible outcomes:

* Theresa May plan
* No deal
* UK unilaterally cancels Brexit (revokes Article 50)

I was intrigued that #Japanese has kanji for very large numbers (like 極=10^48), so I wrote a blog post about it. It's a story of counting systems, an Edo-era mathematics text and Buddhist scriptures, with a supercomputer and a samurai, so it might even interest you if you are not studying Japanese ^_^

Has May's "deal" been holed below the waterline, before it has even been voted on?

Those concerns aside though I'm really excited about the trip.

It'll be my first time seeing in New Year with the family in Japan.. I once saw New Year in with friends in Fukuoka but that's really stretching the meaning of the term "saw in"..

Also my baby's first festival of greed and absurdity will be in rural Japan where christmas is basically not a thing.. excellent!

I'm also hoping that I impressed my mother-in-law enough with my culinary skills earlier in the year when she visited (pre-delivery).. As I'm hoping to be trusted with her kitchen..

Mika (mum-in-law) is an excellent cook, truly fantastic.. but I make my daughter's food.. I'm not sure I am ready to hand those reigns over to someone else for almost a month..

If I can work out how to make our freezer weigh only 23kg perhaps I could prep a month's worth of food and take it with us? clothes? pfff

In less than a month I'll be back in Japan.

I can't wait to introduce our daughter to my in-laws and to see everyone.. it's been 5 years since I was last there!

I do have a small apprehension though (aside from not practising any Japanese in 5 years and the flights with a baby) and that's that folk are going to sideline me somewhat in the rush to meet my daughter..

That in itself would be fine.. but I'm a very hands on dad and I am going to get pretty grumpy if my hug quota isn't met!

@zyx This is painful to read: "On Facebook, ignorance of the algorithm had serious conse-
quences. Our participants used News Feed to make inferences
about their relationships, wrongly attributing the composition
of their feeds to the habits or intent of their friends and family.
Users incorrectly concluded that friends had dropped them
due to political disagreements or their unappealing behavior."
